Artemis Herbal Medicine - faq
Can I drink the ARTEMIS teas during pregnancy?
ARTEMIS therapeutic teas have all been especially formulated with pregnant women in mind and are safe to drink within the range of recommended dosage.
I am pregnant and have been told not to take St. John's Wort?
Officially St. John's Wort is listed as a safe herb for pregnancy in the authoritative monograph of the special expert committee of the German Federal Institute for Drugs and Medicinal Devices (Published December 5, 1984; Revised March 13, 1990).
Is it safe to take the ARTEMIS tinctures while pregnant?
The only tincture to avoid during pregnancy would be the ARTEMIS Tissue Tincture and this is because of the Rue content.
If I am taking prescription medication, which ARTEMIS products can I safely take?
Teas: The ARTEMIS range of therapeutic teas can be safely consumed while on prescription medication. Stick to the recommended daily dosage.
Creams and Oil: Stick to the recommended dosage when using the creams or oils.
Tinctures: Safe to take within the recommended dosage, no herb/drug interactions recorded. Stagger the ingestion times away from the medication. Arthro Ease Tincture can be used with Wafarin, take the tincture with food and away from the drug. Start with one dose per day for a week then build it up to the recommended dosage. Monitor blood levels, not contraindicated but everyone is different. Avoid Tissue Repair Tincture during pregnancy due to the Rue content.
I have purchased two different 30g teas (e.g. Liver Detox and Kidney Cleanse) but they both have different amounts in them. Why has one got less tea than the other?
The canister sizes we use have to allow for the lighter teas such as the Kidney Cleanse Tea, where 30 gram is bigger in volume compared to a heavier tea such as Digestive Ease Tea, where the volume per weight is smaller.
The weight is the same for all teas but the volume varies depending on the different herbs, hence the difference in space inside each canister. There also needs to be an allowance made for the teas settling during transit.
My Liver Detox Tea looks as if it has moths or weevils in it?
It is not unusual for the ARTEMIS Liver Detox Tea in particular to have a web-like appearance as the Globe Artichoke leaves, when finely milled, take on a silvery silken fluffy consistency. The more finely chopped the leaves of the Globe Artichoke are the more effective they become as a remedy, as more active ingredients are released. We chop the Globe Artichoke as finely as possible and this has led to a few inquiries about the appearance of the tea.
Please rest assured we have not put "carpet dust" or "weevils" into your tea! Neither has it gone mouldy or gone off - this is simply how the Globe Artichoke looks when chopped finely.
You may also notice that the fine, almost wool-like leaves tend to stick to the inside of the canister or paper bag. This is completely normal and does not indicate any problem with the tea.
The tea I bought recently looks quite different to the previous one, yet they are both the same tea. Is there something wrong?
It is usual for batches to vary slightly between one another and may differ in appearance, taste and/or consistency. This is the pure nature of organic and wildcrafted herbs and can also be due to where the varying locations in which they are grown.
We have recently sourced a beautiful quality New Zealand Globe Artichoke from Canterbury which does have a slightly different taste and consistency. This is due to climate and soil conditions here in NZ in comparison to the conditions of our usual supply. Herbal variation is natural due to the conditions from season to season and country to country.
Please rest assured that all herbs purchased to make the ARTEMIS therapeutic tea range are of the best available quality being both fresh and either organic or wildcrafted, and must meet our consistently high standards to be used. Any variation from one batch to another due to the above mentioned changes, does not effect the quality or medicinal properties of that product.
